Lesson topic: Basics

  • What is natural farming?

Natural farming grows food without chemical fertilisers or pesticides. Instead of feeding the plant, it feeds the life in the soil — earthworms, fungi and microbes — which in turn feed the plant.

Inputs are made on the farm from desi-cow dung and urine, jaggery, pulse flour and plant extracts. The soil is kept covered with mulch, crops are mixed, and the land is ploughed as little as possible.
